rear brake rotors 850

Does anyone have a preference on the brand of rear brake rotors to install ? I've seen OEM listed as Brembo or Zimmerman. Any difference or should I just shop price on these two brands. What about slotted on the rear. Is is really necessary?

Also, I'd like to say thanks to those of you that have responded to my latest messages regarding brakes and other related items. You can imagine my wife's response when I told her that I saved $300 in labor at the dealer by installing a front engine mount myself with the help of the "bay 13" guy. She was more than a little excited for me. Life is good when your wife gets excited about an engine mount.

Another question. I have an oil leak in my turbo oil return hose. It looks like the leak is coming from the hose itself and not the fitting into the engine or from the turbo. Is this repair realistic to do myself without a lift? How much will it set me back if I take it to the dealer?

Thanks,
Todd

Just did the swap past weekend..... rear rotors/pads and this is what I purchased...

So far so good and they "feel" as though I have more pedal/bite...

yeah, rich is great. he has a website too... http://www.volvospeed.com/maintence.htm

for the rear, it's really personal preference. both brembo and zimmerman are good brands...

as for the slotted rotors. have u had warped rear rotors? it may be a good idea if u are experiencing excess heat in the rear. if not, then it'll be a purely cosmetic purchase. also, considering most of the braking is on the front AND our car is fwd...there isn't all that much going on in the rear. it wouldn't hurt to have slotted rotors, but it's really up to u.

I am very satisfied with the Zimmermans from fcpgroton.com. $30 each I think. Looked exactly like the Volvo ones I took off.

The turbo return line "hose" is actually a metal pipe, so I doubt that it's leaking. Try replacing the "O" ring and gasket on the line and see if that helps. Bay13 repairs section covers the repair.

      Return Line Leak Fix 850

      Rich,

I followed your instructions last weekend for the turbo return line replacement of the gasket and o-ring. PERFECT instructions, literally took me under 20 minutes start to finish. Your commitment to this board and volvospeed is wonderful - thanks from me and others!!!!!!!
