upper engine bushing gone? 850 1997

Over the past few days, I noticed a squeak coming from the engine compartment every time I push in or release the clutch while under way. I popped the hood the other night, wiggled the turbo line just next to the upper engine bushing, and heard the same squeak. How can I tell if the upper bushing is worn? I had it (the bushing) replaced about 2 years and 50k km ago.

thanks

Neil

mine went bad.. when they go bad they GO. the inner part rips from the outer ring.

i bought the urethane one from ipd and replaced it. just used a little saw and cut it out, the ipd bushing is three pieces, two urethane pieces and a metal rod that slips through them.

get a GOOD tourch on the bushing...the centre pilar splits at the top and bottom from the outer ring...mine looked FINE until i REALLY got up close and personal with it...also try rocking the top of the engine to see how much play is there...

i just repalced mine at 60k..when i pressed the old one out i put my thumb on the centre pillar and itr FELL out...guess it was REALLY shot...

one thing i noticed is a hard gear change if you have the right foot fairly well down!

on a manual i think if you come climb a hil, then come over the crest and take your foot off the gas to use engien breaking on the descent if you feel a sort of 'lurch' from the engine rather than just progresive deceleration you probably have a shot mount...

Usually they don't wear out. The break and detach the outer ring from the inner bushing. It is very obvious when they go bad. They rattle.
