white smoke from my exhaust 850

On my 97 T-5 with 98K I sometimes get some white smoke out of the exhaust at startup. It goes away after the initial startup. Someone mentioned to me that it may be oil in the turbo. Is this normal ? I have also been having oil dripping from the turbo "weep" hole under the radiator. Can someone explain to me where this oil is coming from and should I be concerned.

Thanks,
Todd

    Todd,

trace the leak and if it is the turbo that you've mentioned, then it's coming from the turbo pipe. Check ipdusa.com or volvospeed.com for fix, did take me 40 minutes to replace gasket for a first timer. Re white smoke or condensation from exhaust, I had it too, don't know any sure answer or fix yet if it's normal.

Regarding the smoke, just remember these simple guidlines. White is moisture, Blue is oil and Black is rich (engine has to much fuel in the fuel/air mixture)
Having said that, you are just seeing condensation burning off as the engine is initially started. Normal.
