Air Pump getting noisy S70 1998

My air pump seems to be getting noisy, especially when the car is cold...I can actually hear it above the engine when it is running. I'm assuming that it is beginning to go bad. Anyone done the replacement on it? Is it very difficult and how much did you pay for the part?...any good online sources?

You might want to check the cannister purge valve ( about $16-20) before ordering an air pump. My noise turned out the be the valve. (driver's side of the radiator, near the top. Takes about 5 minutes to find and less than 5 minutes to change.

I've replaced mine twice, last done 6/03 and just had to drill the holes in it as recommended to let small amounts of condensate out since it froze up in the zero degree weather. My check valve is ok. This is a bad design. Try http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo.htm for the pump. It was $279.

Mine has been noisy for about the last 50-60,000 miles.

The instructions for swapping it out are in the brickboard archives somewhere.
