Purchasing an XC90 XC90

I have had many Volvo's over the years. Currently have XCWagon '2001. The wagon has been great (51,000) no real mechanical issue. Good in the snow and comfortable. I am considering buying a 5cyl XC90, mainly because there is some difference in fuel usage vs the 6 cyl. I am interested in hear any feedback about the vehicle. I am not keen on SUV, and have yet to test drive it but I am told he rides better and more car like than the wagon. Does anyone know if might be advantageous to wait unitl the 2005 model come out. Perhaps some improvment in fuel economy, although with the weight and all wheel drive probably doubtful. I appreciate anyone input.

I love my 04 XC90! It rides like a car and handles wonderfully. The gas milage could be better as I get around 20 mpg on the open road (if I keep it below 70 mph) and that is pretty good considering the weight to hp ratio. I would purchase this SUV again without question. This is the first SUV and the first Volvo I have owned but I can tell you right now I am well pleased with the quality and the operation of the vehicle in general.

This is the only SUV to own. My wife and I bought one last week. What sold us was the safety. Testing rolled the car at 45 mph and it rolled 6 times with no top damage. Even heard through an internet chat room that Volvo dropped it on it's top from a two story building and the top did not crush, only the windows popped out. We love it and are getting about 22 mpg.

Purchasing an XC90 XC90

I just placed an order for a new XC90 T6. Should take delivery in March. Am really looking forward to it. I've spent 3-4 months researching all SUV's and for the money this seems to be the best. It drove nice, no truck like ride. Wich I had it now with all the snow here.

Purchasing an XC90 XC90

I don't know but I have owned a 2004 XC90 for about 3 months now. The gas milage is about 20 mpg no matter if I am on the open road or in the city. I really expected it to be more but it is acceptable. The performance and ride are equal to any car I have owned including the 2002 Mercedes E320 that I also own. It is a good SUV and I absolutely love to drive it. The milage could be better but it could be worse also. I am so pleased with the XC90 that I would purchase another one without question. Hope this helps in your decision. I personally believe it is the finest all around SUV on the market... bar none.

Those of you who have given feedback to me about your XC90. Do you all have the 6cyl. model. Does anyone have the 5 cyl. model. Thank you for your feedback.

I have the T5 XC90 and have placed 7500 miles on the vehicle. Only problem to date is a squeaky rear windsheild (from delivery)and my wife backing uo into a tree, slow enough not to cause any damage. We love the vehicle.

I sell Volvos and have been a fan for mst of my life. In my opinion the 2.5T is the way to go. It has good pickup unless you're a race car driver, the fuel economy is better and that B5254T mated to the Japanese 5-speed tranny is a great powerplant in terms of reliability. We've seen very few problems with the vehicles for a new model (even in 2003) but the 2.5T's are probably the most problem free. Also if you live in snow country don't get the 18" unless you want to invest in a set of snow tires. Although the XC90 has the best traction of any SUV tires matter.

I will strongly second that opinion - if you get the 18" wheels you should also get dedicated winter tires. Actually, I feel that all car owners should have dedicated winter tires. Modern vehicles use many technological advances for handling, traction, and safety (and the XC90 is tops in this respect!) but all of these abilities are limited by the stickiness of your four contact patches. Always use the best tires available for your conditions. Approximately $1,500 for winter tires and nice wheels is a drop in the bucket in relation to the $45,000 cost of the car.
