Tire Replacement V70 T5 FYI V70-XC70 2001

After 40k miles I replaced the OEM 17" Michelin's with Bridgestone's Potenzas RE950,235/45WR17's.(Tire Rack $165 each) and have put 16k Potenza miles on to date. I did this for two reasons 1)reduce torque steer and 2) improved wet handling. The torque steer has improved greatly which I attribute to the Potenzas directional rotation design. The wet driving ,we have plenty in northern VA,is also noticeably improved --no hydro planeing. Also tread wear is holding up.Gas milage @ 65mph is at 27 mpg,30lbs psi. Disclaimer I have no personal or professonal connection to/with Bridgestone.
2001 V70 T5 56k miles syn oil only.

40 K out of the OEMs is great!

I also had the Pirelli P6000s, 235 X 45, 17 In. (agree with another repsondee - crap) and changed at 20K - Lived in Germany and they were not up to my expectations of a performance tire - or the hydroplaning resisistance. My second set was the Z rated Toyo Proxes - excellent tire, but after coming back to the U.S. found out VERY expensive - close to 200 per tire. I now have my 3rd set on the car at 49K. They are Sumitomo HTR ZIIs bought at tire rack for 93.00 each. A pretty good deal compared to the 149.00 each NTW (Sears) wanted. These are great tires for the price.

Oh, and if you are wondering why I am halfway through the 3rd set of tires after only 49K - Don't do the chip upgrade and sport exhaust on top of the already sporty, T-5.

    Tom

Which Michelins did it come with. My 2001 T5 came with Perelli's P6 Four Seasons which are very noisy.

Should have corrected original msg, i.e. Perelli's vice Michelins. Sorry had Michelin's on the brain disorder. Of possible interest the 04 TL Acura comes w/Bridgestone’s either Potenza's or Turanza's only critique of the TL worth mentioning( I am considering this car as a second) is the torque steer 270 hp
and front wheel drive. Also as tread wear dissipates torque steer increases.
Bridgestone is one of the few tire makers that provide an in writing warranty for tread wear 40k miles.
