Question on Towing...

I have a 1994 850 Turbo Wagon. I have motorcycles (and "stuff") I need to tow, generally 1 or 2 dirt bikes. I have a very, very small 4x8 trailer that weighs about 250lbs. I want a larger trailer and have the opportunity to buy a buddy's very clean 6x12 trailer. He guesses it weighs about 1000 lbs.

I am concerned, I know what the 850s are "rated" for towing, but I am interested in what amount of weight I can tow SAFELY for the long haul. I don't want to damge the drivetrain (engine, transmission, CV joints, etc.).

Thoughts ? Experience? Any mechanics in the house care to chime in ???

Thanks in advance,
Barry

    Question on Towing...

I would think you will need a very good tranmission cooler add on. These trannys run so hot the way they are that they burn the ATF just running on their own. Might want to think about an add filter as well...and run sythetic ATF before you tow. The tranny is your weak point in this setup.
