I have a 92 2.5GLT auto-20valve, phoning someone (a local volvo-saab specialist) today about an auto-trans box flush (purely as a precaution as i dont know when it was done last) and when mensioned the year (92) he started ooo-ing and rrr-ing and saying the auto-trans box was poor in that year. To be honest the box doesnt feel bad, certainly no worse than a 93 2.0SE auto i used to have (apparently the AW50-42 unit was modified for 93) The oil is dark red and doesn't smell burnt, and i'm getting no flashing arrows and got a fault code readout of 1-1-1 signifying no problems. Again as the car has done 110K miles i plan to get the fluid flushed as a precaution anyway. I appreciate there has been issues with this box so my question is, how can i tell there is a problem developing (his answer you carnt tell, just keep your fingers crossed) and what steps do i take to ensure no problems develop? Also am i just being paranoid about it?
Cheers
Will
