I think some of this hinges on your model S70. I have the high pressure turbo (T5) and I noticed a slight improvement. (nothing big)The S70 uses a large air filter relative to the engine displacement, consequently the turbo models would see more of an improvement as they require more air. That being said I have used K&N filters in my 1997 Eagle Vision TSi, and my 2000 Chrysler LHS, all have performed well and have lasted more than 130,000 miles in both vehicles, my '98 S70 has had it's K&N for 89,000 mi, no adverse effects...

No, from what I have read, stock paper high surface area filters are far more effective at filtering abrasives and do not restrict flow. Foam filter performance increases appear to me to be placebo, purely wishfull observations unsupported by actual test data.Try this blind study: have a buddy remove your air filter altogether, or not, and see if you can demonstrate a performance change that correlates with filter out runs.

    Hi...

By replaceing your paperfiber filter with a K&N your engine will breath a little better. Some state the filters increase horsepower by 5-10. It's hard to see a difference in that small of power. All as I know is, place a K&N filter in your box and your good for a long while. Buy the recharge kit, clean it, wash it, and charge it and your done. Instead of buying a stock filter everytime. Or if you drive in really dirty environments you can wash it and charge it at your own discression to keep your engine breathing good. K&N's should last the life time of the car. I knowtice that my engine has better throttle responds from a stand still.

K&N is it worth it?? Depends! S70

If you expect to get whiplash at the first traffic light, or to get 200 horses more under the hood, probably not. If you want an air filter that will last a long time (with proper maintenance) then it might be.

Think about it. The amount of air coming into the engine is measured before the gas is put in. The only time you'll see much difference it when you are really putting your foot into it--on jackrabbit starts and maybe at full throttle on the track.

The K&N will filter dirt about as well as most paper filters, not as well as some. If you look at one, you can see the holes. K&N says that using the filter will result in finer filtration (because the holes will get smaller from being filled by caught dirt).

Personal opinion--great for racing, so-so for street.
