I'm new to Volvos. I've always loved the cars and heard great things about them. I've found what I think is a deal on an '01 S80 T6 and I'm on the edge of the fence to buy or not. I've researched the car a good bit and the '01 model seems to be a reliable car. Can any of you Volvo veterans give me some pro's and con's for me to consider?

I would check out the Consumer Reports list of "Used Cars to Avoid". The S80 T6 is well appointed, fast, comfortable and a seductive "bargain" (of sorts) as a used car. Buyer beware, though.

Before you buy you should check out Consumer Reports view of the S80. I think it is now on the list of worst used cars. My two Volvos are great cars, but rest assured that there are some models and years you should avoid.

Make sure you have all the service records for the vehicle. What is the price they are asking? Is it a private sale or from the dealer? Is there a warantee involved? Has the car ever been involved in an accident? What is the mileage? Do the heated seats work? Etc. . . . These are all questions to ask yourself when buying a car; especially a Volvo as they can either be wonderful cars with the usual and expected repairs (as mine is), or blood sucking mosquitos who drain your time and your bank account.

1993 850 GLT 98,000 miles

37,000 miles. $21,995 is the asking price. will see the car this weekend for first time. my mind is definitely NOT made up yet. two replies to my message tell me to check consumer reports list of "used cars to avoid." maybe that will give some insight.
