Remote Starter S80

Has anyone had any experience with a remote starter installed in an S80 T6? The Service Manager at the dealer I go to didn't think it was a good idea.

Thanks;

    I don't beleive that a remote starter is a good idea for any vehicle. Just an opinion. It's your car, suit yourself.

      Yes but what is the point of a remote starter?

      You have to get into the vehicle to drive it... so whats the point of being able to start it from the outside?

      Ps. Ive not heard of a remote starter before. So forgive my lack of knowledge in this field.

      Tony.

        from your point of view it can also be argued that there is no reason to have keyless entry since you still have to open the door. it's not a question of that because it's a convenience just like cruise control and buttons on the steering wheel.

        your right that you still have to get in and drive but i have installed them on my previous cars (740, 760, 850, 960) and it helps in the winter the most. i always wait at least 5 mins to warm up the engine before i drive any of my cars. one of the worst things to do is drive on a cold engine just after starting up the first time that day, as far as durability is concerned.

        also it's nice to get in a warm car in the winter or a cool car in the summer.

        but i'm not installing it on my S80 due to the complex electronics (error messages) and also i'm not sure about putting in a factory alarm bypass module, which is required for the remote starter to work on these cars.

        i don't mean to badger you but i have found the remote starters to be very useful

          Ok - I understand why you like to use remote start now.

          When you put it that way, I guess it could be quite useful in the winter months.

          Thanks for the info.

          Tony
