I had to replace both rear locks on my 98 v70 not a bad job to do (not counting parting $125ea).
God bless Vitor for being patient enough to make the repair to the evil lever My advice replace w/new, attempt repair on the old one than smash onto pavement, good for the soul lol

I fixed my driver's door switch with the help of Vitor (Volvospeed...Thanks!) and I also fixed the passenger rear lock, which was much more of a pain. That was in July and they are still working.

I wish I could have found the digital camera to take pictures of the rear door job. It was a somewhat different job--and now I can't remember many of the
details. (Perhaps I'm blocking the emotional pain ;-) I did use a slightly different fix for both though. Instead of the heat approach, I used a jeweler's drill to drill a slightly undersized hole. The hook was a small piece of spring steel--coming from one of thos large black and silver paper clasps (the ones that hold a couple hundred pages together). I then used some of that two part epoxy that you can get at Home Depot.

I just reiterate what Vitor says in his instructions on Volvospeed. This isn't a job for the person who gets frustrated putting the kid's bike together at Christmas. (And that would go double for the back door lock.)

I documented the process to replace the lock or if you have patience, to repair what I call the Red Evil Plastic Lever.
The procedure is in Volvospeed website under doors and latches repair.

Think there is something here...
http://www.volvospeed.com/volvo_performance.php.

Kids did the same thing with my 98 v70. Dealer wants $290 to fix it.

A little plastic piece breaks and they weant to replace the whole lock.
