Vadis CD - Mechanics Please Help me identify this (Pic Posted) 850

OK,

Obviously this is a Vadis CD, and I can read the label.
I purchased this off eBay for $1.75

The question I have is "How can I make use of this?"

I can put the cd in, and navigate to images and browser pages (usually indexed by numbers rather than descriptions), but it is clear that it is meant to run with some sort of program, and that does not appear to be on the cd.

Can someone please explain how I can make propper use of this tool??

It is cool none-the-less. I would frame it and hang it on the wall...LOL

Vadis and AOL cds 850

I'd add them to the AOL wall disc fish like in the latest AOL commercial. Yes, it's THAT good ;)

Frank,

If I wanted to install the whole set,

How many setup cds would there be, and

What about the DVDs I see, in editions A-G?

The older cds like what you have has one setup cd and several other cds for various models. The newer DVD editions have everything on one DVD BUT either way, unless you have the very detailed paperwork that Volvo sends to a dealer with those cd-roms/DVDs that explains the install process, it's doubtfull that you'll get it correctly installed. The written instructions also have a help line # BUT it's for dealer people only and they'll ask for a name and dealer code to insure that they're talking to a dealer person. They won't help anyone else and the install process can be problematic, not like store bought or DLd PC programs made for the masses.
Even with the complete program that we use daily at dealerships for newer cars (later than '99), you're far better off with a good paper manual as Vadis is not a very user friendly program for those who aren't experienced with it.
For older cars like yours, I always use a paper manual when needed over Vadis as do all of the "old timers".

It's missing the Vadis setup cd-rom and yes, that's a complete program that also needs to be properly installed and setup in a PC. At dealerships, the CDs (now DVDs) come with several pages of detailed instructions and on a PC that hasn't previously had Vadis installed, the program itself needs to be properly installed/setup with detailed instructions. W/O that, your cd won't be of much use.

What you have is just part of a set of CDs that are technically property of Volvo (not meant for public domain) and some dealer people are trying to make a fast buck on Ebay selling these vs doing what Volvo wants them to do, return them to Volvo.

IMHO, the program today STILL has alot to be desired and especially for anyone w/o prior Vadis experience. You'ld be better off with a cd-rom from IPD as it'd probably be more usefull for you.
