Drum Roll From Front End? C70 1999

I was coming home from work the other night when about halfway thru my highway drive I started getting a drum roll sound from what appeared to be my right front side. Thought maybe a flat. After pulling off the next exit I found no flat but the drum roll persisted. Sounded like something tapping the wheel well.
I have a five speed and the drumming became more pronounced when I downshifted.
Yesterday thankfully it was gone so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Was not the engine as I revved a few times. That night I parked my car on a small elevated piece of ice. Could doing this cause the bearings or something to freeze and offset a little till the temp went over freezing the next day.

Or could the bearings or something be on their way out as my car is coming up to 5 years. Or maybe this is somehow connected to my 16 in winter wheels. [which i've had for 4 years now.]

Does my scenario sound familiar to anyone?

thx

    rd,
    Two possibilites.
The tires on C model cars tend to be noisy.
Second, you might have a front hub/wheel bearing on it's way out. I'd lean towards this more due to the fact that it seems to only do it once the drive line is hot. Meaning, if it were simply a tire, the noise would be there all the time, even cold.

If you can't afford to take your car to the dealer for trouble shooting, then sell it. Don't cry when the local shops can't deal with the technology anymore and you're tired of guessing at what parts to throw at it. .......Don't mind me, I'm frustrated.
