A Ghost in My Machine! S80 2000

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for answering my remote programming question.

Now I'm having strange electrical problems.

Intermittently my Fuel Gauge, Rear Headrest Release, Sunroof, Map Lights, Rear Power Locks, Trunk Release, Lower Brake Lights, and Reverse Lights - stop working.

Could this be a module or a bad ground?

Has anyone heard of something like this?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

First question: How'd you get headrest releases in a 2000? I thought they didn't start using those until 2002. The headrests in my 2000 doesn't even fold forward manually.

Anyway, I get a similar problem whenever my battery dies or if it is disconnected. Using the remote to unlock and lock it a few times makes it work properly again. I'd check with your dealer and see if there are any software updates for the REM.

The sunroof and map lights are an upper module problem. Usually locking and unlocking the car will reboot the module and restore function. Don't know of a permanent cure. The other problems are a software glitch in the rear electronic module, and there is a software upgrade available from your dealer that should take care of it.

There's a problem with your REM (rear electric module). To my recollection, the cure might be new software but it's been a while since I've seen that so I'm not sure. It should reset by removing the main fuse back there (LR area under access panel). I'm not sure which fuse does it.
You'll probably need to visit your dealer to get that problem cured.
