I purchased all the light bulbs to do the lights for the interior of the car, switches and all. First off, all the bulbs for the instrament panel are wrong, and now my dash board is apart. Would it be a bad thing to drive to the parts store to get the right ones without the cluster in place? (Its about 4 KM return)

Second question, how do you get into the switches to replace the bulbs, or should I just go to the scrap yard and find switches that the bulb works?

I believe that the lights on the switches for 93's and 94's are intergrated into the swithes themselves (soldered in) and from 95 on had separate bulbs. Also, unfortunately, even if you buy the newer switches the plug on yours will be different and the bulb still won't work because there's no power to that part of your plug. I think they call this phenomenon "planned obsolesance" meaning Volvo wants you to but a new switch from them. Maybe someone else has some input on the feasability of soldering in new bulbs to your existing switches. All I know is they're @#$%^&* tiny. Best of luck!

P.S if the switches you bought have a bulb in a white holder that twists out, those won't work. Hope you have your receipt!

I live in a VERY small town, returning the bulbs wont be a problem.

What are your thoughts on driving with the speedo out to exchange them??

Read your latest post, sounds like instrument lights are the least of your problems. I say dump the brick, not cost effective to fix at $3K. Bummer.

Yeah, I know! I think however that Im going to get an engine for it. Not really to worried about the lights right now!!
