Volvo SC-816 Security code V70-XC70 1998

I had to replace my battery and my security code went on. I thought I remembered the code but after three attempts the stereo went to an "OFF" mode. what do I need to do to reset it so I can enter the code again. I think I have to have the car running for about 15 minutes with the stereo off but I just want to make sure if that is correct

The key and radio must remain on UNDISTURBED for two hours to reset the radio. Either a 2 hour road trip or key in accessory position with radio on.
