Hi all,

I just bought a 94 850T Wagon and discovered that the key (ignition door and I'm assuming glovebox?) won't unlock the glovebox. Is there anyway I can get at the latch without destroying the box door and dash by prying them open?

If the problem is not the valet key, 850s are famous for broken glove box latches. The door as to be carefully pried open, and the latch cut by a saw, at the same time taking care not to damage the surrounding surfaces. A new latch mechanism is then purchased from a dealership for replacement. Been there, done that.

Ho is right. You have a Valet Parking key, wont open your trunk either. The dealer can order you a new key. You will need your vehicle registration and drivers licence.

My car is in my moms name, they called her to verify that I had permission to have order a key. My 93 cost $41CDN!!

Is you car a used one. Most likely that your key is not the master key. When I bought my 855, it came with 4 keys: 1 master with plastic head, 1 master without plastic head, and 2 non-master keys (like yours). Non master key can only open the doors and ignition but not the glove box.

Dealer might be able to help.
