Light Sayst Service S70 2000

My car Service Light is lit for about 2 min after I turn the ignition and then goes out. I understand that it reminds me to do scheduled maintenance. However, I know what that is and my TRUSTED mechanic can do it. Question I have will the light not going to bother me anymore, or do I need the dealer to reset it?

You can extinguish the service light yourself without any tools or special dealer equipment.

    1. Press and hold odometer reset button.

    2. Turn ignition switch to "run" position.

    3. After Service Reminder Light flashes, release odometer reset button.

    4. Turn ignition off, then back on to confirm reset accepted.

      jbos,

Is your remedy a new discovery or something specific to certain mode;/year S70's. Every other post I have read indicated (that for at least a 98 model S70), the light could only be set by a special tool by the dealer or certified shop.

If you are correct, I will certainly give it a try....and owe you a couple of beers.

        Ceenit,
The reset procedure only works for 1999-2000 S/V70s (and newer Volvo models).

The 1998 requires a scan tool, sorry! Several companies sell this tool for approximately $200.00. Here are some web links,
