cd changer cable installation 850

I have read a number of messages already posted about how to mount a CD Changer. However, I still have a question: If I mount the CD Changer in the trunk, what is the best route to run the data cable from from the CD Changer to the radio? Thanks.

ensire you have your radio code...
    disconnect battery
remove bolster on passenger side (torx bits)
remove trim at botom of front and rear doors (large flat bladed screwdriver inserted under flat top of trim - leave upwards gently..then pull gently)
    remove floor carpet from boot
loosen passenger side pannel in boot (on a sallon remove obvious fastenings & seat back piller & nut bellow it)
    remove head unit..

pass cablew from head unit thru passenger side of dash then down a piller moldings to floor...route along edge of floor under where the trim peices you have taken out would have been..cable will 'trap' between sockets for trim peices and the chasis edge...at back seat half lower seat and thread cable under it into are behind the side moulding you released earlier..now push cable down through slot between the seat squab and the seat surround...it should neatly diasppear..in boot take cable back under loosened moulding to little well adjacent to light unit access door.

now take cd chnager and position its base on loosened side moulding floor above well..take your time and adjust position looking under floor untill it would drop into the well if the panel wasnt there...now mark its position on the trim /floor panel...now cut a hole for it to fit into in the trim panle using a craft type knife..fit brackets..allow changer to droip into place and drill holes in floor/trim panel for bolts...i mounted some spreaders under the trim panel and bolted through them and the brackets to trap the panel...now connect cables under the trim panel and put everything back together...

    couple of hints...

    1. plug everything together on the passenger seat first to check it works prior to installattion

2.leave he travel locks i n the cd until final fitting...but remember to remove them before you do!

    3. my changer had some 'arcs' on the side..these adjust the springs for horizontal or vertical mount...(marked as h or v on mine!) ensure you adjust these before fitting!

if you want any pics or whatever let me know and i can take some of my install...

yeh it helps to know what other people did..even if you decide to go a different way...the biggest bitch was geting the cable tucked through the back seat...allow your self 2-3 hours for a decent job really taking your time...

if you want any pics etc..email me..

Mine goes round the back of the glove compartment, down under the trim between the passenger seat and door along the floorpan, then along to the rear and then under the rear seats...
