Child booster seat stuck! Manual no help! 850

Just got a 96 850 wagon with the built in booster seat. At some point I did just what the manual says not to do--I either tried to open or close it with out the back and seat snapped together and the hinges locked. But the book never seems to say what to do then. I know there's some simple step I don't get. Can you help? Thanks!

my booster seat is stuck most of the way up because i pulled it down while it was not snapped together. the higes locked, the manual says that it will do this but it doesnt say how to fix it. please help!!!

As I recall they can get stuck in the down position. If
you look down at the hinges there is a metal piece that you can manually
press in to allow the seat to flip up. This is from memory and I may
not have it exact. But basically, look at the hinge area to see what is
causing it to stick.
