I have kind of an odd think with the drivers seat in my 90 850. When moving the back of the seat only one side of the seat moves, twisting the seat back. Any one experience this, is it just a wire that fallen loose. Just want ideas before I go and rip out the seat!!

All fixed!! I should have taken pictures, but if you go on bay 13, theres a metal rod that runs from one where the cable goes into the gearing, to the other side, where the cable starts at the motor. The bar just had fallen out of the left hand side. Typical, the bar is about 2 cm too short!!

Just thought Id post if anyone else has this problem!! Easy fix!!!

since it has instructions on replacing the seat back cable and following
those instructions you can get to the inside of the seat (and the
seat does not have to come out) to look at the gears, cables, motors,
etc.

Thanks for your help. For my next question, if it is a cable, would the whole seat back quit, or just one side, everything looks to be in order!!!

My experience (when the cable failed) was the seat back would move
back as a complete unit. But, it would not move back up. (After
about the third time pushing the button to convince yourself that
is the problem the seat ends up too far back to drive the car.)

I think there is a square bar that connects one side of the seat with
the other that might affect what you are seeing. Hard to say for
sure since the innards vary if you have a side air bag (mine has the
air bag, your 93 probably does not).

Thanks Ray for your post!! I didnt think it was the cable either, since only half the seat is moving. I too, trying to convince myself that it wasnt really broken moved it back, and only half of it moved, so I moved it forward, and the whole thing went forward, but now, once again, only half went back!! I ended up drving all the way home in (300KM, and a 40 minute ferry ride) in this god aweful position kissing the windshield.

Tomorrow being a holiday, Ill pull the cover off and report back on just what I find!!
