Right Motor Mount 850 1993

Just had the car looked at (94,700k GLT manual) I was advised the right motor mount was broken and needs to be replaced-around 165.00 job. I am taking a 1600 mile round trip road trip in December. Should I have this fixed before I leave or can I at least make it one way.

Thanks

I would replace before I went, but I have been driving with a broken mount for about a month now. Still get it fixed so you can drive there worry free.

Tony!!

The motor mount is what holds the motor in place, correct? Otherwise it starts to lean on the body of the car. I was just hoping I could wait until my destination (800 miles) because labor in Seattle is about 15.00 per hour cheaper than San Francisco....

it can wait till you get to Seattle, or until you come back home and you can do it yourself. Save some bucks.

Thanks--that's a relief--on my budget saving $15.00 per hour makes a big difference!

Your risk is tranmission problems. The motor mount keeps proper stress of the engine to the frame of the car. When the mount is gone, it goes someplace else...vibration and tranmission. Our tranmissions aren't known for durability, but you probably won't do a whole lot of damage. Does the engine shift around when changing from drive to reverse and do you notice vibration?

Hi:

I don't notice anything/vibrations etc.. The car seems in great shape.
