Windshield wiper adjustment 850 1995

This is a dumb question but how do you adjust a squeaky windshield wiper on a 1995 850? It has always rubbed and made an awful noise since new and the dealer was never any good at adjusting it.

Thanks.

I had the same problem when I bought my 96 850 last year. Squeaking and skipping on the glass. I had previously put a pair of silicon blades I got at Wal-mart on my 92 940. The same blades fixed the 850's problem. They worked great and have a lifetime warranty for a Wal-Mart price. I don't remember the brand, but look for 100% silicon and lifetime warranty at Wal-Mart. Good luck.

Do you mean it rubs on the window frame area? You can adjust the arm swing by popping the plastic cap off there at the shaft end of the wiper arm and removing the nut and moving the wiper arm to a different position on the splined shaft. When the wipers are parked just move the arm over till its off the frame area or wherever its rubbing. Make sure you torque the nut back down good or it will come lose again. Good luck ........

I fixed the problem by changing to a different brand of wiper. There are different brands that claim no or low noise and I don't remember which one I purchased. They are usually more expensive than the other aftermarket wipers but about the same price as your loud OEM Volvo ones. Another thing is to keep the wiper blades clean.
