CV Boot Replacement 850 1994

I've replaced the front right ball joint on my 94 850 turbo wagon. In doing so, I damaged the spindle so it is now off the vehicle to be replaced. Since that is off, I am thinking that I would replace the cv boot since it has some fine cracks in it (but no holes). Can the boot be removed by pulling it over the cv joint(without removing the halfshaft)?
My manual does not provide enough detail. Can anyone point me to on-line instructions to replace the boot?
Many thanks
Ed

It will never be easier to change the boots than now since the spindle is off. Kits are available online for less than $20 and include both boots, clamps and grease. It's a messy job but not complicated. The Haynes manual (I got mine at AutoZone) has a pretty good step-by-step.

Good luck!

There are split CV boots out on the market, that wrap around the CV Joint and glue together. But your MUCH better off replacing the boot properly by taking the drive shaft out.

Your even better off to just leave the existing boot on. My boot has had fine cracks in it since I bought the car, but like yours there are no hole in it, so I decided to just keep an eye on it, and deal with it then.

The split boots just come unglued, then your worse off than what you were before!!

Hope it helps,

Tony!!
