ABS Controller Redux? V70-XC70 1998

Hey all

My ABS controller was replaced last December by my dealer. For the last month or so, the ABS pump has been kicking in when the car goes over a bump, telling me that perhaps a sensor or the computer itself is failing.

Anybody had a similar experience over bumps or have a replacmenet controller go out on them?

Also can anyone confirm the warranty on dealer parts - 12 months? Is it longer if the work is done by the dealer?

    I wonder if they actually replaced your controller with a new one or they replaced yours with a used one.
    In any case, the replacement is still under warranty.
    On the other hand, even a new controller will fail after 60,000 miles (or earlier) due to the poor design of the unit.

      I got a 98 V70 and I am having the same intermittent Abs light symptoms that many others are having. Since I will be going on vacation for a shart period and won't need the car, I am considering having the ABS controller fix done. How do I arrange this with Victor?

    warr. is 1yr, 12k miles, u r expieriencing normal abs modulation, happens when
    car goes over large bumps, i dont know exactly why, but it seems to be normal

      I would say it is in the realm of normal, at least as Volvos go. It never happens with any other ABS equipped car, but basiccally it sounds like the pump cycling on for a second or two. The bumps are expansion bumps or small potholes - nothing that would make you lose a filling.

    One more thing - please note that the ABS light does NOT come on.

    Grrrr.
