98 S70 Security led on dash S70

Have 98 S70 When locking doors with remote control Led on radio comes on and Led on dash does also. doesnt the led on dash indicate the car has an alarm system?I can lift the car , shake the car and no alarm sounds . any ideas are apreciated thanks. also horn doesnt beep when arming alarm with remote but lights do fash on momentarily.

You don't have an alarm. The flashing LED indicates the radio is "code protected" and will not work if stolen or power removed unless the 4 digit code is entered.

The motion detector and glass breakage detector were optional.

The horns do not beep on Volvo alarms. Only sound is the locks
going down. The parking lights should flash though.

having an alarm system does not necessarily mean you have a motion detector (I know mine doesn't but it will go off if you try to break in). If you really want to hear it, roll the window down and lock the door with the remote. Then reach in and pop open the lock manually and open the door.
