Brake Squeak 850

I am so tired on this reoccuring issue. Took the front pads off, wire brushed everything, used syl-glide from IPD on the calipers, pads, you name it. (Tried the volvo pink grease b/4 and had the same issue, so trying comething different) Prior to all that used the compressor and blew out the dust from everywhere. Still had about 1/2 pad life left on the pads. Use OE Volvo pads. 2 days later, I'm squeaking again, not initially, but when almost stopped. Depress the pad harder and it goes away. Very annoying.

The only thing I can think of is I didn't remove the rears and do the same maintenance. Those pads are less that a year old. Maybe the fronts are ok and as I'm slowing to a stop, the rears kick in and they are causing the squeal?

Thoughts, comments, fixes are appreciated!!

My rear brakes were the source of squeeking on my car. I pulled
the pads out and greased the backs along with the shim. Pretty easy
to do on the rears, too. That fixed my squeek problem.

Same thing happens to me once and a while. I replaced the front rotors and pads, and rear rotors and pads. This was at 145,000 miles, and they were original, so i'm not complaining.

The new equip does just as you describe, but not all the time. It seems to occur after moderate braking to a stop. If I get on the brakes hard, then there is no noise. And it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe there is a bit of rust on the very edge of the rotors and has the pads fully engage, the rust causes the squeak. I am driving less now than I was, and the car does sit out in the moisture of Michigan a lot. I don't recall this ever happening when I drove a lot more with the old rotors (I replaced with OEM everything).

      Same here.

The pads are about 1/4 used (2nd set) although I am on the original rotors at @65K miles. If I back up the noise occurs on the first 5-6 light pressure stops. When going forward the same thing occurs.

I've done the e-stop from 50mph to remove corrosion with little result. Maybe its the weather change.

Sounds like a garbage truck. At least it has excellent stopping power.

      Bryan
