Fog lights as DRL's. C70 1998

I rewired my fog lights so they are now my DRL's. I used the wiring diagram from this site. Two days ago, my lights were out. I checked the inline 20 amp fuse and holder, they were all melted together. I had a Volvo tech look at it and he said that this did not just happen. "That by using the foglights as full-time DRL's, the connection slowly, overtime, melted. Foglights are meant to be on for short periods of time".
Does this make sense? I've replaced the inline fuse since then, but with a 15 amp fuse.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Sometime my fogs are on as DRLs when I don't want them to be, as in the night before and then on the day after.

The newer Volvos, like a 2004 S60 AWD I had as a demo while C70 was in for the power seat TSB, the fogs are turned off with the ignition and you have to manually turn them on again when you want them.

I guess in Europe its poor driving to leave them on unless you absolutely need them, and you can get a ticket even. I hope PDs here don't get that idea as a revenue generator!

Before you get too wrapped up in this, check your state motor vehicle code and make sure you are legal with whatever lighting you are running. you can pay for some pretty decent lighting with the cost of a couple of equipment violation tickets.

sounds right. Fog lights are brighter and heat intense to break through fog for better visibility and indeed are meant to be used for short periods of time, not for use as DRL's.
