ABS Brakes activating at low speeds 850 1995

Lately when I have been applying the brakes at low speeds and sometimes when making a turn at low speed , the ABS will activate. This is on warm dry pavement....Last week it activated while driving slowly down the street without even touching the brakes---buzzzzz---. The ABS light has never indicated a problem at all,it has never came on, except when you start the engine, and the brakes work great at highway speed. The brakes are only about 6 months old, and they are in excellent shape. Anyone have any ideas?

There are 191,000 kms ( 110,000 miles) on the car , and it works great otherwise.

This happens almost all the time, about 80% of the time, but sometimes it is no problem.
Thanks:
Ian

Info found on the UK Volvo owners club website. Could this be the cause of the problem?

Some early 850's sometimes suffer from a pulsing brake pedal - most noticeable when driving slowly in city traffic. This is basically a manufacturing defect: not all the plastic sheathing is stripped off the ABS sensor wires at both front wheels. A factory modification kit is available (under warranty) and fitting requires removing the existing wiring to both front wheel sensors, but not changing the actual sensors. Instead, you solder the new wires on to the loom. The connections are made inside the square plastic trunking on the nearside, near the ABS module. The joint must be soldered, as a crimped connection will cause current drop and affect the system's operation.

      Mraldonnelly,

      Thanks for the information!

Could you please provide more detail? I have exactly the same
symptoms as risky123, and I just could not find "an apparatus
for weaving yarn or thread into fabric" ("loom" in the Oxford
dictionary) on my Volvo :) Is the old connexion of the wires
to the big contact at the control unit left alone and only the
connexions to the sensors are modified?

      Regards,
      Dmitri
