cold weather , staring problems

had no problem last year when winter came

but this time car just hesitates when starting up, cranks ok , then stumbles up to 1500 rpm , then slow down to 900 ( auto trans.. )

sometimes it dies , sometimes it stays alive

1998 S70 2,5 SE

this does not happen when starting up second time , or when engine is hot from running....

ideas?

    cold weather , staring problems

btw ´, just tried the famous "wait in pos 2 for 5 seconds" trick with ignition key , car starts fine , no rumbling...

Bad fuel filter ? Pump having trouble building pressure fast enough?

    Thoughts ...

try cleaning the throttle body and IAC valve. They could be very dirty and now with cold weather is really showing.
Anyway quick easy job, might fix your problem.
