Turbo Whine on 2002 S60 ?? S60

Hi group,

I'm new here. Have a 2002 S60 2.4T AWD with about 45,000 miles. I've noticed when starting the car cold in the mornings, some noise that sounds like turbo whine for the first few miles. Even though the temp guage indicates the engine is warmed up. Does this sound normal ??

Thats probably your air pump that assists during warmup to warm up the cat converter or something.

Hi DG,

Didn't even realize there was an air pump. Could be I suppose. I was thinking "turbo whine" mainly because of my experience owning Saab turbos for 15 years... sounded a lot like the turbo whine I use to get with them (usually 20 or 30K before the turbo went south).
