Does the PNP Switch affect the Mode Switch function? 850 1995

Winter/Sport mode switch not working. Is that due to the PNP switch being bad?

    Greetings,
    Am presently having problem with sport / econ switch also. this occured after disassembling console and dash board, i am missing the speedo signal according ot ECU. I think this works as an input output type switch and because my transmission ecu is not getting the speed signal info the module wont confirm winter or sport (although it works, presumably from stored values)and thus wont send the led confirm illuminating, i dont have the dealer manual on this so just guesstimating. i dont believe its as simple as on/ off light switch i think it is a sensor or data type wiring system for that switch. try checking for trouble codes at transmission ecu port by reading the codes, forgot which port to put jumper in try bay 13,

    Does the LED light in the switch work? If the light doesn't work the Sport/Winter switch is probably just bad or unplugged. Has anybody messed with the center console lately that might have unplugged the switch?

      No, the LED light does not work. I had the console open about a month ago to replace the SRS module. I'll check the connections. I just noticed yesterday when the dash light started flashing. After shifter movement and code reset, it seems ok now, just the winter mode switch not working. I'll give it a look see. Thanks.

        hi guys

        the LED on the switch works in this manner.

        when u start the car usually its not lit.
        then as u select Econ or sport it will light accordingly and will remain till engine shutdown or when winter is pressed.

        the winter switch will give an amber arrow indication on the instrument panel.
        if the amber arrow doesnt go off when u press winter switch it means the PNP is faulty. and the car will always start from 3rd gear onwards. try cleaning thr pnp with some contact cleaner and wd40 and if that doesnt work get it changed.
