Potential S80 Buyer S80

I currently own a 1994 850 Wagon and have been seriously looking into the S80, 2001-2003 year range.

Can anyone let me know their personal thoughts on this car (good and bad).

I made a mistake with the 850 and don't want to do the same with the S80.

Thanks,

Paul

If you LIKE your 850 you're gonna LOVE the S80!!!! S80

About the S80 Consumer Reports says: "relibility has been disappointing".

If you plan to LEASE one for 3 years rather than buy, the S80 is probably, well, OK.

The S80 has great seats and the reliability probably isn't much worse than the 5-series BMW or the A6 or A8 Audis or a Jag but I don't think you want to deal with any of these once the warranty period is over. They're all very complex automobiles, and the complexity will lead to problems as the car ages.

I believe Volvos once stood for value, safety and you could keep them for many years. Today, however, buy new and get rid of them in 3 to 5 years unless you have an unlimited pocketbook. I've had several and I bought an S80 T6 with everything on it in 1999 and now everything is starting to go. Look for something more solid Honda, Toyota, Acura, Lexus to name a few.

    Potential S80 Buyer..................Get the '03! S80

If you can afford an '03, get that as by '03 they're pretty much decent. I believe that '02s still had the older type electronic throttle unit which will eventually fail and they're costly.
