I have had the car into my mechanic who both road tested it--he heard it too, and put it up on a lift and checked all suspension components including strut mounts--they are good, and sway bar links-bad but replaced, and still have the clunking sound going over bumps and washboards. He has no clue as to the cause and neither do I.

Any suggestions?

Why do you think that? Is it an expensive fix?

Sounds like the drop link to me!
The bushes in the joints wear but its difficult to see when the car is jacked up!
I had both mine done and it wasnt too expensive!!!

Dealer mechanic told me it is the strut mount.
