Need to reset 'service message'. V70-XC70 2003

Had a '99 S70, the reset was done with the ignition key and the trip odometer reset button. Lease ended on that one so got a 2003 V70. Changed the oil myself at 5000, but 7500 coming up and getting the service message on the driver info display. Anyone know how to reset the newer cars? On the '99 I could set the daytime running lights to be on or off myself. I hear on the '03 it has to be flashed by the dealer. Progress????

Need to reset 'service message'. V70-XC70 2003

Was able to reset. I do not know in which year they switched from a service light to driver information display. The '99 I had had the service light. In the '03, there is a message display panel in the lower left corner of the dash. It displays messages like "passenger door open", "tailgate open", etc. About 20-30 miles before the 7500 mark, I was getting a "perform routine maintenance" message every time I started the car. You can clear the message using the button on the end of the left stalk. I was getting tired of that, however. I tried to clear it completely using the old method, did not seem to work until I noticed that the little hazzard warning light, right in the middle of the dash, under the middle of the spedo./ tach displays would flash yellow on using the key position I, hold trip reset, key position II, when the small hazzard warning indicator starts flashing yellow, release trip reset. Voila!

I saved this from this BB, and it is for S80 but suspect it is what you need. Lot us know if this applies to your car.

For MY99-01

. Turn ignition key to position I
2. Press and hold trip odometer reset button
3. Turn ignition switch to position II
4. Continue holding trip mileage button for about 10 seconds
5. After SRL flashes, release trip mileage button.
6. You should hear a beep-beep to confirm command accepted

For MY 02
1)Ignition in position I
2) press and hold the trip reset button and wait for the trip mileage to set to zero. Must be in T-1(see below).
3)Turn the key to pos. II, and watch the trip miles.
4) When the previously displayed miles reappears, release the button.

There is no confirmation chime

The trip meter has 2 modes, T-1 and T-2. You will see a little tiny T-1 or T-2 in the display. To change between modes, press and release the reset button. Must be in T-1 to reset the service reminder. Turn the key to position I. Press and HOLD the trip reset button while watching the trip display. When the miles reset to zero, turn the key to position II while holdingt the trip reset. Continue holding and watch the trip display. When the original milage display returns, release the trip reset. Turn the key off, then back on and start engine. Service reminder should now be reset.
