Front calipers 850

Hi all,

I replaced my front rotors & pads yesterday and I found while putting
back a new pads set, that one of the calipers piston rubber seal is
partially out on the inner side of the caliper. I tried to put it back
in with a small screwdriver but it's quite impossible to do it without
damaging the rubber seal itself.
Do I need a special tool for that (and/or a procedure) or the only cure is
to eventually replace the whole caliper ass'y ?

I did a search but found nothing specific on that topic.

Thx a bunch

The rubber seal did same on my 850 2 years ago when I replaced the pads.

Get a pick ( like a dental pick- they sell em at the auto parts store) and carefully push the seal back in.

Do this before buying new calipers !

Certainly did work on my 850 - my brakes works wonderfully!

It takes a special press...and once the boot is out, you need to replace the caliper. There's probably corrosion on the piston so it will not properly actuate, provied you can even retract it all the way. Ya gotta bit the bullet. I got a remanufactured OEM caliper from Foreign Autopart for $65.
