265 hp V70R AWD in 1999? V70-XC70 1999

Hello,
I'm looking for additional information about a 1999 V70R AWD that had 265 hp instead of 250 hp. The VIN on this particular car shows the idenitifying model number as a V60 rather than the standard V62. Supposedly there was a special 90 day run of these in late 1999?
Any information would be very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!!

V70 R AWD 265 BHP V70-XC70 1999

European V70 R AWD 99 265 BHP.

I have recently purchased the 1999 R AWD.
The European spec I believe is different from the USA spec, however it is as follows;
: 265BHP (Mine is "Superchipped" to 302BHP)
: Laser Blue colour unique to the "R"
: Aluminum Panels on dash board
: 5 Speed adaptive Automatic gear box, with winter function
: 17" "R" Alloy's
: Dual Exhaust pipe system
: Eventually I found one with Sat Nav and an additional 6CD changer in the boot, however for some reason it does not have a sunroof.

It is my understanding that there are only 50 examples of this car in the United Kingdom of which only 7 are in Laser Blue.

Kind regards
Patrick......

Sure thing - mine is one, but be aware that the US and the European editions is different here. Mine was probably one of the first laserblue that was ever produced, and supposed to be manufactured in 04/99. Volvo in Norway didn't sell this car for at least a half year later.

The big difference for the laserblue (european 2000 edition) is:
* New engine - B5244T2 with TDO4HT19 turbo and variable intake valves
* new adaptive 5 speed automatic gearbox
* dual exhaust as an option
* the laserblue color
* new rims - might have been introduced a little bit into the series

There were a couple of other minor issue too, the new security feature with the restraint system might have been introduced this year too, and the "follow me home" feature for the lights.

265 hp V70R AWD in 1999? V70-XC70 1999

I have a 99 V70 R Wagon that was delivered in August of that year. It has the 18T turbocharger, but whether it has the engine management software to produce the 265 HP is unknown at this point. I have seen 99 V70 R wagons equipped with the dual exhaust like the 00 models, ????

I had also heard about 250hp max. from the Volvo factory. IPD may have tweaked an R with a chip and less restrictive exhaust, so 265hp is possible, somewhere.

In the factory '99 "R" all the extra dozen horses (and then some) get lost on their way out of the AWD system and the automatic transmission's torque converter. Look at the contemporary road tests like the one published in R&T for the acceleration numbers. They're good, but hardly spectacular.

The '04 V70R is another, different, story.

am not aware there was a special run in 1999. however, in 1999, the v70r awd came with a 16t turbo that produced 247 hp, 243 lb-ft. in 2000, the v70r awd came with either a 18t or 19t (can't remember which) that produced 261 hp, 258 lb-ft
