IS THIS POSSIBLE?? OEM parts?

Hi again,

I just found out that the Air Mass Sensor needs to be replaced on my 1999 C70. Being the price-conscious person that I am, I went online to search for the lowest price. After spending a couple of hours looking at 15-20 sites, the cheapest price I can find is $228 (plus free shipping).

Before I decided to place the order, I gave a call to the local volvo dealer...probably just to feel good that the time I spent online wasn't a complete waste and I saved money. Well, the dealer quoted me $203 for the sensor. I was completely shocked and surprised. I called another dealer and they quoted me the same price, too.

In the past, I've always thought that part prices at the dealer was always more expensive than those non-dealer online parts retailer. If someone can explain this, please do so. Thanks!

I've been surprised several times by low prices at the dealer. I've even noticed a few Volvo parts prices cut by nearly half over time. Buying parts from the dealer will often get you some good installation advice in addition to the correct part. Some dealers may give you a 10% discount for VCOA membership. Mail order parts don't always save you money especially when you consider shipping costs. Check the prices yourself.

If you're buying mail order, consider the sponsors of this board first.

    IS THIS POSSIBLE?? OEM parts?

hi, i was kind of pleasantly surprised today too, as i got my car (C70 concertible) from servicing at a local dealer and checking their invoice saw that they charged $40 for the front brake pads. if i remember correctly, i had paid more than that at Kragens Auto Parts for my other volvo (87 740 wagon). and i can say that the ones i got at Kragens produced a lot of dust - unlike the volvo oem.

    hope this helps
    papo

It's true. Sometimes Volvo LOWERS their prices to dealers and yes, THEY also then lower their prices to the public as a result.

It then pays to shop dosn't it?
