Hi: I just got a used 1999 C70 convertible. i have a question for other owners.

My understanding from reading the user's manual is that when you press the "Trunk Opening" button on the remote control, the trunk lid is supposed to Pop open automatically. Meaning, the trunk lid opens completely, not just unlocks.

I took it to the dealer for a regular service and asked that it be ckecked.

The dealer says that i am mistaken, that it is only supposed to unlock, not pop open as some other cars do. (i just rented a Buick that did that, and it is very convenient when you have your hands full).

Do anyone know if the dealer was right or not. How does your car behave?

thank you for your response. i thought so, since the image in the remote key shows a full opened trunk. and no, i wouldnt change my volvo for a buick just for the trunk release - i just rented teh buick it while traveling.

I have been driving volvos since the day i graduated from college (literaly)almost 30 years ago (wow, am i getting old!). This C70 convertible is my fourth one. i still have my '87 740 GLE wagon with 160,000 miles, and still runs fine.

I work at a dealer so I know they're right. It just unlocks, doesn't pop open like a Cadillac.

I will have to also agree with Frank. I own a 98 c70, and it has and never will pop open. Its not equipt to do that. The remote merely unlocks the truck. If you want the pop truck, buy a buick or mercedes. Volvo doesn't do it. sorry.
