Tire Time Again.... C70

Hi Folks,

Once again its time to purchase new tires for my c70. I've been running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S For the last 27,000 miles and I'm not really impressed with these tires. I thought that they would last at least 35 or 40,000 miles. Guess not. Anyway, I'm in the market again.

I'm tempted to go with the New Michelin Pilot PS2, but I haven't heard anything about them. Does anyone know anything about theses tires, or does anything have any feedback about theses? Otherwise, I guess the old faithful original pilot sport will be going back on the car.

Other then these three tires, can anyone recommend anything else that has worked well for them. I live in sunny southern california, so rain and snow isn't really and issue, and I would prefer to stay from All Season tires since they're pretty much useless here. I can live with summer tires year around for the most part.

My preference would be to get a tire that will last at least 25,000 and more likely 30,000 to 35,000 miles in the Y or Z catagory. Any thoughts.

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

I am on the board looking at info on Volvo's...I currently own an Acura Vigor...saw a post about this site...Anyways...tires.

The Vig is a little lighter than the C70 however, I would HIGHLY recommend Sumitomo tires....they are very inexpensive...I think mine were about $47 each...I know...they perform GREAT, high mileage, very grabby and they are very quiet....I have had Michelins MXV4's...OK, Yokohama's...less than OK, some crappy tires that were on it when I bought it..sucked, and the Sumitomo's.

Go to www.thetirerack.com and read the reviews...I have not written one, but I will and it will be very favorable.

I did have Mich Pilot PS2, and they were pretty nice tyres,
but i don´t think that they will last 30,000ml. Mine lasted only 20,000ml.
(then there was only 3mm rubber)
Now i´ve got Continental SportContact2 and i think that they are better than Michelin, car handless better...only when it rains Michelin kicks Contis butt!
I´ve heard that it´s normal that Y, ZR, W class tyres won´t last more than 25K.
You´ve to choose V class if you wanna have better miles!

I am on a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 that I just Purchased June this year.
A far better tire than that offered by Michelin Dry/Wet and cheaper too. I payed $1150.00 Canadian installed and balanced. The main fact in the purchase is that the tire is made in Germany and not in the U.S. (225/55ZR17).

I am on my second set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3. I think I got around 40,000 miles on my first set. They are better than the Pilots in all catagories as far as I am concerned. Check out the Tirerack I think they are top rated as far as summer performance tires.

I purchased a set of Yokohama AVS ES100 Z-rated tires in the 205/50ZR16 size a few months ago. These tires are rated 280 AA A, so I expect them to fall short of the 50K warranty, but there's tradeoff for traction and performance. They seem to be fine in the wet and fairly quiet for a Z tire. So far, I've been quite happy with these tires considering they can be purchased for less than $80 per.

Check out the reviews at Tirerack.com.

i have currently bf goodrich compta hr4 the are great tires and are rated at 400 treadwear, they are also a performance tire.

last tires i had on my car were michelin mxv4 plus, they lasted about 50 to 60k alomost all highway so thats certinly the reason. They were put on by the previous owner so i dont know how often they were rotated, got his previous records though.
