Door swings freely S70

I had the misfortune today of breaking my door stop on the driver’s door. It is the middle hinge that prevents the door from moving freely. Is it expensive to fix?

Thanks

I have a procedure written up to fix your problem. No welding. Contact me directly.

I have the same problem on my 99 T5. It is not broken completely. The door make a loud crack when it reaches each stop position when opening and closing it. It's embarassing! I am going to the dealer to get an estimate. I'll post it here when I get it. Do the same turbodog?

I did go to the dealer and the new hinge is $115 and 1-hour labor. I wasn’t clear on what was involved. I am having it fixed tomorrow.

I really wonder if this part should be greased regularly since it looks like the spring broke.

Thanks for the responses
Rich P.

it was a while ago so forgive me for not remembering all the details. the same thing happened on my '98. yes it would be very expensive to fix, i believe it's very labor intensive. to do it correctly you need access to the inner fender from inside the car. i just had a body shop weld the door check back - very inexpensive. but now i have an exposed weld that looks kinda crappy.
