Performance Exhaust S70 1998

Hi,

My factory exhaust is starting to go ... ( which is good b/c it gives me a good
excuse to change it ) ... I am thinking about going to a more sportier exhaust.

I talked to my Volvo dealership this morning and they wanted me ...

$ 270 Cdn for the factory S70 GLE exhaust
+ $ 80 Cdn for the chrome exhaust tip
-----
Too much for a factory system

I am not sure which one to go. I have a friend who just installed a Magnaflow exhaust on his '00 Neon LX sedan and it sounded really nice. But then I got a
friend who installed a Borla exhaust on his Volvo 850 sedan and it too sounded
nice. The finally, I got a third friend who got an Ipd sport exhaust on his
1997 850 T-5R sedan and that sounded nice too.

I know for a fact that all three performance exhaust systems will give me a
slightly better performance and all three tips looks quite nice. I'm NOT looking for any of those loud, stupid GReddy-type exhaust, but something that has a sporty sound, and looks close to the factory appearance.

Should I go with Borla, Magnaflow, or Ipd ? ... BTW, I am not sure whether Ipd
even makes a sport exhaust system for non-turbo Volvo's ? ... Any opinions ???

TIA,

A performance exhaust system on a non turbo, and I'm assuming, automatic car will do nothing for the car's peformance. In fact it will probably lower overall performance since any small gains that may be made at high RPM (which your automatic transmision won't let you access) will come at the expence of lower RPM horsepower. Get the factory system, and a nice aftermarket tip.

    Koz.

    Hi Kenny,
Are you sure the factory system is starting to go? Never heard of anyone changing a factory system on a 850 or S/V70 because it's gone yet. They seems to last for ever, at least on cars here in Sweden.
Anyway, a sportier performance exhaust is always nice....
