Scraping Brakes when Not Engaged C70 2000

The right rear brake is clearly creating some light scraping sound when my foot is OFF the brake. Not sure if this is some sort of oxidation or if something is sticking. Any thoughts?

This problem seems to affect a lot of C-70's. I have found the anti rattle spring on the caliper hitting the rotor. When the brakes are applyied, the pads push the spring away from the rotor and the noise stops. Volvo has issued a different design spring to corect the problem. Simply remove the pad retaining pins and original spring, and replace the spring. To verify if this is your noise, remove the wheel and spin the rotor, then reposition the spring with a screwdriver and see if it stops scraping. Also, you may see evidence on the edge of the rotor of contact.

Thanks a bunch, Bob - will check soon and get new spring if req'd. I just installed a rebuilt caliper on the 1990 Miata, so I'm getting heavy into brakes now. I had previously did a partial rebuild of all 4 Miata calipers - that's what I get for buying late in the first model year.

The Volvo's warping rotors early in its life were mighty disconcerting for a guy w/ a history of long-lasting brakes. I recently started getting minor brake pulsation in the Volvo again - and if it's not oxidation from the rain this time I may have to replace rotors on my dime (& yes all wheel bolts are torqued to spec.).
