resetting the service engine light S70

Well I tried holding the trip OD button down and turning the key on.. waited for
the service engine light to start flashing... never did.
Soooo on a 98 S-70 has anyone realy figured out how to reset this light
short of a trip to the stealership?

    One vote for ..
It can only be reset by stealership.

It can be reset by disconnecting the battery.

So Thats an easy thing to try.. I'll do that, see
what happens and post results.. as soon as it is parked long enough
for me to get my hands on it.

don't know if disconnecting battery will work. I replaced my battery last winter and don't remember it changing the status of my light, but, then again, I really have learned to ignore it, so I'm not positive. I do know, however, disconnecting the battery will lose your radio stations and all of the memory in the trip computer. That, to me, is way more annoying than seeing a service light for the first minute of driving.

yup. '98 is dealer reset only (or buy the reset tool).

Personally, I choose to ignore it.

'96 to '98 850/70 series volvos require a trip to the dealer to reset service light.

'99 and newer is reset by holding the odometer buton procedure.
