inop windows, power locks, and door panel removeing S70

Well finally got the S70 to sit still long enough to look at it.
I decided to tackel the dead rear window.
After poking around the door panel and getting nowhere I decided to
see if the switch would come out.. I gently pry'd the switch holder around
the edge and up it came. When it came loose it kinda popped up an out
of the hole into my hand... WTF? no wires! Wireless? no.. the connector
had fallen off. plugged it back into the switch and it works fine. DOH!
Next I need to figure out the random problems with the power locks. the
question becomes... Is the black box on the driver's side door switch holder
the master unit?
Also when the key is turned or the remote lock is activated you can hear
noise in all four doors but not all four work. all the doors except the
passenger front work with the key... they all lock but only three unlock.
with the remote they all lock but only the back doors unlock. But as
I said you can hear noise in all four doors..
I have info on removing the door panels but I'm still a little uneasy
about prying around on them.. so next time it sits for longer than
15 minutes I will give it a go.
wish me luck.

    Axel,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on the door lock issue.

The things the dealer replaced on my 2000 S70 GLT were as follows:

The first dealer repair/replacement was of Switch #8638452-6 (although this is identified as a switch, in the verbiage that accompanies the receipt it is called a Door Module). However, this replacement did not solve the reported problem so I returned the next day and was able to show/replicate the problem to the mechanic.

The second repair/replacement was of Lock, Left #8626183-1 (the verbiage refers to this item as a Door Lock). This appears to have solved the problem (since 3/23/01).

    Hope that this helps.

Hi there. I had a similar sounding problem with my door locks. The driver's door would not lock with the switch on the door but all four door locks sounded as if they were tripping/locking. I brought the car to the dealer when this happened and actually got the problem to occur while there. They replaced some mechanism within the door. If you're interested on what they replaced, let me know and I'll check my records. Is your car still under warranty?

I get the feeling this would be very helpfull. I would be interested in
finding out what they replaced! I havent gotten to the door panel removeall
phase yet as this isnt a "car stopper" problem. It's just one of those irritants
that bugs you untill you deal with it. ;-)
The car isn't under warrenty any longer sadly.

Thanks for your reply! I'm curious to see what it was they replaced.
