90K tune up price S70 1998

Hello, I've been quoted $650 for a 90K tune up. Does this seem resonable? Is this the exact same as the 60K tune up?

Thanks!

What's included at that price? I replaced the plugs, rotor, and distributor cap on my S70 and spent about $70 in parts. Wasn't difficult at all.

I'm not involved with the automobile service industry, however, I can imagine there are many factors that influence the costs associated with operating a Volvo Dealership Service Department (i.e. building costs & overhead, employee training, salaries, medical benefits, retirement, parts warehousing, shipping and receiving staff & costs etc.). These costs probably vary to a degree in different areas of the country.

Probably an Apendectomy at your local hospital, is a simpler procedure than the 90K service on a Volvo, but I'll bet it costs more, largely due to different costs, and insurance issues the hospital must factor into it's overhead, and pass on to the patient. I wouldn't recommend a bargain apendectomy....use your own judgement on the Volvo...

$650 for a tune up on any car, not just a Volvo, is absurd.

I'm assuming this quote came from a dealer, and there is nothing "broken" on the car that you didn't mention.

Do yourself a favor and find a nice indy mechanic that specializes in Volvos.

Local dealer here charges $479 (labor is $135/hour in my area) They post
the prices on the web, too: http://carcoupons.tv/smythevolvo/30k.html.

Still seems high to me (since brakes are needed about every 30K and
that will add to the cost unless your quote considered that).
