Shift lock doesnt always work. Have to override w buton? brake light switch??

More often then not I have to use my override button to shift from part to drive. Whats the most likely cause? I appreciate the help.

    Next time it fails, try wiggling the ignition key. The electrical part of the switch has a bad record.

    Shift lock microswitch failure is common (our 95 855 is on its third).
