I have read several posts about premature failures of the rear main seal on the 850 5 cylinder engines. A friend of mine with a 96 850 with 65K miles recently had to have his rear main seal replaced. So far my 96 850 (80K) shows no sign of leakage, Are there preventative measures that I can take to prolong the life of the rear main seal? Will the use of oil for high mileage engines and or more frequent oil changes help? Are there recommended additives that will help?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
