Prevention of Rear Main Seal Problems??? 850 1996

I have read several posts about premature failures of the rear main seal on the 850 5 cylinder engines. A friend of mine with a 96 850 with 65K miles recently had to have his rear main seal replaced. So far my 96 850 (80K) shows no sign of leakage, Are there preventative measures that I can take to prolong the life of the rear main seal? Will the use of oil for high mileage engines and or more frequent oil changes help? Are there recommended additives that will help?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

regular and frequent oil changes 850 1996

According to my indy tech, the number one preventive measure is regular oil changes. He's quick to add that this is not a guarantee. (In my case, 115K miles and it leaks nary a drop. I use synthetic and change it every 5K miles.)

Prevention of Rear Main Seal Problems??? 850 1996

I have 120,000 miles on my 850 turbo and never have had a problem (knock on wood) but I do replace my oil every 3,000-3,500 and am using synthetic.

Keeping the flame trap (aka PCV valve) in working order is reported
to help. Note that turbo engines do not have a flame trap.
